The primary purpose of this position is to acquire, develop, support and sustain Products and Services by generating logistics solutions and supporting personnel. This position serves as an Equipment Specialist for an assigned AFLCMC Directorate organization.

Duties

Provides MAJCOM functional managers resolutions to complex system problems. Recommends tests, equipment modifications, training for users and maintainers, and correction to design deficiencies through evaluation of operational capability of systems/equipment and review of performance data against standards. Assists in troubleshooting and repairing difficult and unusual problems including those which have not been previously resolved. Acts as Technical Content Manager for assigned technical data.

Qualifications

Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions for the Equipment Specialist Series. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. "All eligibility and qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement however, this vacancy announcement may be used to fill other like vacancies within 120 days of the closing of this announcement and your eligibility requirements (e.g. time in grade) will be reevaluated." SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-02, equivalent to the next to lower grade GS-11 or equivalent in the Federal Service. Specialized experience must include knowledge of the applicable electronic principles, concepts, policies, and laws; functions, programs, and systems applicable to the duties of position; sources, responsibilities, and means for providing assistance and advice to resolve problems; and all aspects of support. Knowledge of required safety regulations, practices, and procedures. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of maintenance concepts, principles, and practices of specific systems/equipment that are assigned. Knowledge of safety, security, personnel management, and EEO regulations, practices, and procedures. Skill in providing technical advice in terms of oral and written briefings, reports, and recommendations to senior leadership and maintenance technicians; and developing interpersonal relationships, maintaining good working relationships, and working cooperatively as a member of a team. Skill in analyzing and interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals, and technical data; and, identifying and analyzing complex technical problems and developing innovative solutions. Ability to plan, organize, and re-prioritize work to meet changing deadlines. Ability to develop and conduct training to ensure proper maintenance of assigned systems/equipment; and communicate well both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
