This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
Duties
Perform unit level maintenance and support for one or more of the following systems: radiology, laboratory, patient monitoring, pulmonary, and high-end electronics.
Evaluate, install, maintain, diagnose, repair, calibrate, and test medical electronic equipment/systems maintained within program.
Operate a wide variety of invasive and non-invasive Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE).
Ensure TMDE is appropriately calibrated and available to perform medical equipment services.
Document the results of preventative maintenance inspections using appropriate forms.
Document the extent and cost of repairs using appropriate automated maintenance management system or manual form.
Develop preventive maintenance schedules for equipment and systems.
Identify and recommend practical solutions when determining medical equipment malfunctions and/or malfunction defects.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination to ensure the required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
- This position requires the incumbent to possess, or obtain and maintain, a valid regular or official U.S. Passport.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of up to 15% of the time.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Minimum Qualifications:
GS-11 Minimum Qualifications- One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Performing preventive / scheduled maintenance services on variety of electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical medical equipment to include troubleshooting, identifying source of problem(s), and replacement of defective circuit board(s), discrete component(s) or other parts as appropriate; 2) Evaluating, installing, maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, calibrating, and testing medical electronic equipment/systems; 3) Utilizing and updating automated maintenance systems for the maintenance operation to include all data files and reports pertaining to medical maintenance services and equipment readiness; AND 4) Operating a wide variety invasive and non-invasive Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) and interpreting results from specialized TMDE supporting complex electronic/systems as well as radiographic/fluoroscopic energy devices, electrical leakage current testers, defibrillator analyzers, infusion pump testers ventilator tests.

GS-10 Minimum Qualifications: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing preventive / scheduled maintenance services on variety of electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical medical equipment; 2) Evaluating, installing, maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, calibrating, and testing medical electronic equipment/systems; 3) Utilizing and updating automated maintenance systems for the maintenance operation to include all data files and reports pertaining to medical maintenance services and equipment readiness; AND 4) Operating a wide variety invasive and non-invasive Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) and interpreting results from specialized TMDE supporting complex electronic/systems.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09)
GS-09 Minimum Qualifications: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Performing preventive / scheduled maintenance services on variety of electronic, electromechanical, and mechanical medical equipment; 2) Evaluating, installing, maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, calibrating, and testing medical electronic equipment/systems; AND 3) Operating a wide variety invasive and non-invasive Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) and interpreting results from specialized TMDE supporting complex electronic/systems.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08)
OR
Education: Master's degree or two full years of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as electronics engineering.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
