About the Position: Serves as the principal Safety & Occupational Health advisor to Installation and Mission managers, analyzing and resolving of high-risk hazards, including explosives, radiation, chemical, and related hazardous materials. Moving expenses and/or recruitment/relocation incentives MAY be authorized for this position.

Duties

As a Safety and Occupational Health Manager, you will perform the following duties which is not an all-inclusive list: Establishes and maintains close liaison with Army Commands (ACOMs, ASCCs, DRUs), military services, federal and civilian agencies to ensure cooperation on SOH matters. Performs analysis of IMCOM Directorate wide accidents and adverse trends and develops or recommends countermeasures Establishes, interprets, implements, maintains plans, policies, and procedures for conducting SOH activities at all levels of command. Responsible for the maintenance of continuity within the IMCOM Directorate footprint of all Safety and Occupational Health programs. Advises on HQDA performance concerning accident trends and results. Consults with other HQ IMCOM and Command (ACOMs, ASCCs, DRUs) officials on accident prevention and SOH program analysis within the Army worldwide. Conducts or attends conferences or work groups concerning the development and evaluation of DA SOH programs. Investigates reports of alleged unsafe or unhealthy working conditions.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. If the security clearance is denied or revoked, the individual may be denied or removed from the position, accordingly.

Qualifications

The Installation Management Command (IMCOM) Directorate - Training (ID-T) is responsible for the Mission Command and leadership of 17 US Army Garrison commands and Support Activities that deliver and integrate Base Support services on Army installations to enable Army readiness. ID-T is aligned with the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), the U.S. Military Academy, and the U.S. Army War College and is physically located at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, thereby, better enabling close collaboration with HQ TRADOC. Developing safety and occupational health standards, regulations, practices or procedures to eliminate or control potential hazards; and 4. Developing or implementing programs to reduce the frequency, and cost of accidents and occupational illnesses. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Accident/Mishap and Hazard Investigation and ReportingCompliance Inspection and Program ManagementSafety and Health Training and Education Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
