About the Position: This position functions as the Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the Headquarters, US Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Safety Office.
This position is eligible for regular and recurring telework - as determined by the agency policy.
Duties
Assist Safety Director, Supervisor, and senior level Safety and Occupational Health Managers with all aspects of the TRADOC Safety and Occupational Health Program.
Assist with safety and risk management integration in the Army training function within the TRADOC Safety Office.
Research and maintain Safety and Occupational Health laws and directives.
Conduct Safety and Occupational Health evaluations of subordinate organizations directed toward identifying shortcomings in
workplace and industrial operations, training areas, range safety, tactical safety, occupational safety and health, hazardous materials safety and safety education and training requirements.
Assist Army leaders at all levels who provide leadership to their activity and/or units' Safety and Occupational Health Program and accident reduction initiatives.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The incumbent is required to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license, and any installation, DOD and/or Federal license or certification required for vehicle operated.
- This position requires that the employee occasionally travel away from the normal duty station (CONUS/OCONUS) up to 25% of the time.
- This is a FC-12 position. FC-12 ACTEDS training is mandatory for personnel filling these positions. Employee must possess or complete FC-12 Level I Professional Certification program within 24 months of appointment.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) Providing safety and occupational health guidance on policies and procedures: in areas such as - safety and risk management integration, safety inspections, accident investigation and analysis, hazard analysis, and countermeasure development; 2) Developing plans to reduce or eliminate hazards in facilities and training areas and reduce risk to personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
