This position is a Coin Manufacturer located at the West Point Mint in the Production Division. As part of the Apprenticeship Program this position has been established below the full performance level (WG-10) to provide the employee with training in the position to be able to perform in-depth troubleshooting and repair techniques, inspection, loading and maintenance operations in the production of coins, die setting, stamping, die control, laboring and the use of other equipment and machines.
Duties
As part of the US Mint, West Point Manufacturer Certification Apprenticeship Program, you will have the opportunity, through training, to learn to perform all the duties to help you grow in this position. The following are the duties of this position at the full performance level WG-10.
Possess the knowledge, skill, and ability to disassemble, repair, rebuild, modify, and adjust or manufacture component parts for automated feed systems, mills, clutch assemblies, feed conveyors, sensors, and actuators (electronic and hydraulic), adjust safety devices including door interlocks as necessary using hand tools, grinders, drill presses and other shop tools as necessary
Perform fine adjustments that are required but are not limited to: adjusting the stroke, push off, timing and indexing and adjusting equipment to within tolerances of (.0001)
Diagnose malfunctions due to various possible causes and perform repairs
Determine extent of repairs required, materials or parts needed to complete repairs and disassembles, adjust, repair, and determine monitors machining of component parts of the presses
Maintain complex presses and other machinery at each manufacturing step and process of the coin production equipment to maintain peak operating conditions within the plant

You must meet the screen-out element Ability To Provide Production Support Services, normally addressed at the beginning of the online questions. In addition, you must also obtain an average score of two (2) for the following elements for this position as addressed through the online question in order to be considered minimally qualified.
