This position is a Metal Forming Machine Operator assigned to the West Point Mint, Office of Production. As a Metal Forming Maching Operator, you will be responsible for applying specialized skills, methods, procedures, and techniques to monitor, operate, troubleshoot, adjust, prepare and repair specified and routine sections of complex coin presses, upsetting mills, and other production and support machinery associated with the coin manufacturing industry.
Duties
As a Metal Forming Maching Operator, you will:
Reassemble equipment and perform operational and functional tests such as trial strikes and makes required adjustments in order to ensure proper operation of the press or machine
Set and adjust dies in presses to insure precision machine stamping of blanks to produce desired quality, dimension, finish, etc. for precious metal gold, silver, palladium, platinum, and other coins and medals
Proof and uncirculated coin production requires frequent cleaning and / or polishing of the dies due to the highly polished finish on the die surface
Operate and maintain machines to include startup, adjustment, stopping and other processes on burnishing, tumbling, rinsing and drying equipment and ensures optimal system operations
