Job opening: ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL)

Salary: $95 694 - 124 398 per year

You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the NAVAL FOUNDRY and PROPELLER CENTER (NFPC) and reports to the HEAD MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING SUPPORT BRANCH of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will plan and lead novel machining operations. You will maintain professional working relationships with outside entities. You will provide technical advice and guidance to lower grade engineering technicians. You will prepare detailed cost estimates for use in project funding

Requirements

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience reviewing/coordinating the review of geometry data provided by the design agent to verify that the supplies data arrangements are adequate as a master database to ensure full envelope definition, smoothness, and fairness as well as containing all the data necessary to generate propeller plans, CAD/CAM drawings or N/C programs. Experience coordinating with other technicians and engineers to ensure that all technical issues are addressed and that all project objectives and schedules are met. Experience preparing detailed cost estimates for use in obtaining project funding. Experience preparing detailed schedule estimates for completion of program files or CAD/CAM drawings. Experience evaluating design objectives, performing complex technical evaluations, identifying most economical and efficient procedures considering all influences, prepares procedures, drawings, and program files. Experience performing detailed evaluations of new processes or innovative variations to existing processes for the purpose of improving operations. Experience providing technical guidance to lower technicians and engineers; Experience assisting in training lower grade technicians.
