This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, executing and evaluating the operational environment in all assigned DDJT supporting exercises throughout the Joint Event Life Cycle.
Duties
As a SYNTHETIC ENVIRONMENT DEVELOPMENT PLANNER at the GS-0301-13 some of your typical work assignments may include:
Plans, develops, coordinates, executes and evaluates the operational environment in assigned exercises throughout the Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC).
Leads exercise design, scenario, road-to-crisis development, and master scenario event list (MSEL) database development for supported exercises.
Manages and provides qualified Joint Master Scenario Event List (JMSEL) subject matter experts (SMEs), provides formal classroom and ad hoc training, and courses on JMSEL operations and management through Joint Knowledge On-Line (JKO).
Provides subject matter expertise to the Joint Exercise Control Group (JECG) on enemy/threat groups.

- The ability to operate a motor vehicle in foreign countries is required.
Qualifications
You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications:
A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service:
Providing advice on the conduct of training and exercises, model and simulation (M&S) utilization and operation, utilization of Joint Master Scenario Event List (JMSEL) tools, and synthetic media replication.
Leading diverse multiorganizational teams of joint function and domain experts in exercise design to accurately and coherently portray operational environments (OE) across the Diplomatic, Information, Military, and Economic (DIME) elements of national power.
Leading a team of opposing force (OPFOR) planners in the development of replicated enemy plans, concepts of operation, and courses of action.
Leading development of exercise OE documents that provide exercise conditions to support attainment of desired exercise and readiness objectives.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
