Duties
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: NGA's Analysis Directorate Executive Operations Branch is responsible for understanding and engaging key audiences to create, strengthen, and preserve conditions favorable for the advancement of Directorate interests, policies, and objectives using coordinated engagements, programs, plans, themes, messages, and products. The Senior Communications Officer will work with an expert team of communications officers in a dynamic, high-profile environment shaping communications for Directorate leadership concerning its mission and vision while enabling effective leadership decision-making. Expectation of the selected candidate includes; a highly motivated communications team design, influence information and communication campaigns across Directorate and agency, drive mission awareness, promote organizational success, and affect change and innovation through workforce engagements. Specific duties include: collaboratively shaping, synchronizing, informing, and influencing executive-level communications/engagements; collaborating with communications, engagement, and partner staff across NGA to define the intent of the engagement and develop a systematic strategy to achieve desired outcomes.Additional Application Requirement: You may be asked to complete one or more assessments in addition to the application you submit on this website as part of your application to NGA. Qualifications
MANDATORY QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: For this particular job, applicants must meet all competencies reflected under the Mandatory Qualification Criteria to include education (if required). Experience or Knowledge of copyediting, highly developed grammar and writing skills, and familiarity with and ability to use style and usage guides.2. Ability to communicate highly-technical information in an informative and unique way to various audiences.3. Demonstrated ability to reorganize and rewrite content as necessary for greater clarity.4. Demonstrated ability to independently manage work flow and meet fast-paced production timelines. 5. Demonstrated ability to craft senior-level briefings, speeches, talking points, and messages for consumers using multimedia software and communication platform (Adobe, SharePoint, etc.) 6. Experience leading integrated and multi-disciplinary teams.EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: A. Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, English, Journalism, or a related field. -OR- B. Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of coursework in any area listed in option A, plus experience reviewing, editing, and producing documents in accordance with language, style, publication, format, presentation, classification, and sourcing standards, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work. As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience. Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals 4 years. -OR- C. Experience: A minimum of 4 years experience reviewing, editing, and producing documents in accordance with language, style, publication, format, presentation, classification, and sourcing standards, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION CRITERIA: In addition to the mandatory qualifications, experience in the following is desired: 1. Experience leading communications initiatives and networking with other communication professionals.2. Experience working with graphic designers, and publication layout and design3. Knowledge of NGA and/or GEOINT production processes.4. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and professional communications skills, both written and oral. 5. Ability to make final moment decisions in order to meet high profile customer needs. 6. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with team members to ensure consistent and seamless customer service.
