You will serve as a Shipfitter in the Shipfitter Shop (11A), Hull Division (TRF-310), Repair Department (TRF-300) of TRIREFFAC KINGS BAY.

Duties

You will sight, plot, and mark reference points and lines on building dock or shipway to maintain alignment of vessel during construction or repair, using transit, plumb bob, tapes, and levels. You will establish center lines, water and base lines, frame lines, degree lines, and other reference points aboard ships in locating, positioning, and installing hull parts, machinery, and fittings using trade equipment. You will build keel blocking, cradles, shoring, cribbing, and other structures to support ships in drydock. You will construct staging for ship work and builds temporary wood supports, containments, and shorings of various kinds for vessels.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • This position may require travel worldwide at which time additional medical screening may be required.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision such as: Laying out, fabricating, assembling, and installing various metal structural parts of submarines; installing and fitting structural parts on submarines utilizing services of other trades; and shaping metal pieces and assembles components to form required submarine parts.
