The Primary Purpose of the Position is: To exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate Environmental Services Technicians in accomplishing the environmental mission of the Environmental Management Service.
This position is located in the Environmental Sanitation Section, Environmental Management Service, VA North Texas Health Care System. The incumbent is under the immediate supervision of the Assistant Hospital Environmental Services Technician Officer.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Plan the utilization of workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a daily and/or project basis.
Adhere to work priorities, project schedules, resources, and detailed work plans established by higher level supervisors.
Follows customary work cycles and sequences in planning work assignments.
Directs a workforce that consists of Environmental Services Technician Leaders and Environmental Services Technician positions.
Assigns work to individuals and provides technical direction and/or helps in accomplishing difficult work steps and processes.
Observes work in progress to anticipate and resolve problems, reassigns personnel within group supervised; and coordinates work among workers and other supervisors to maintain work progress and meet schedules.
Participates with employees in the development of performance plans and makes recommendations to supervisors.
Recommends appropriate recognition or corrective action(s), as needed, in performance management.
Recommends training based on needs assessment and mission requirements.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm and Rotating Shifts on Weekends and Holidays

EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
