This occupation is currently approved for a Veterans Health Administration enterprise-wide Critical Skills Incentive through 9/10/2024. Candidates may be eligible for a lump sum CSI for a prorated amount if onboard prior to the CSI expiration date. Eligible candidates will be required to sign a service agreement agreeing to an obligated service period and failure to complete the obligated service period may result in a debt for the unearned portion of the CSI.
Duties
Duties are but not limited to:
Accomplishes all environmental functions at levels that meet OSHA and the Joint Commission (TJC) standards.
Performs interim cleanings of assigned areas to disinfect quickly and thoroughly between procedures thereby preventing hazards to patients and staff and maintaining rapid turnaround time between cases, procedures or patients.
Performs terminal cleaning of assigned area to assure an aseptically clean environment.
Removes blood and matter from walls and equipment.
Washes and disinfects public and staff restrooms as well as staff locker rooms to include face bowls, showers, urinals and commodes.
Coordinates schedules and refinishes hard surfaced floors by stripping, applying finish and burnishing.
Schedules and dust ceilings, overhead lights, vents, handrails, window ledges, and signs.
Observes strict procedures to properly collect and dispose of recycle paper, red bag trash, sharps containers, waste and linens.
Coordinates schedules and maintains availability by replenishing supplies.
Work Schedule: Rotating Shifts: 3:30pm-midnight, 11:30pm-08:00am

Physical Requirements: Most tasks require varying degrees of muscular effort and hand-to-eye coordination to assure safe and efficient use of equipment and supplies. Work requires frequent bending or stooping, prolonged walking, standing, working in cramped positions and climbing. Work requires frequent lifting and moving heavy items weighting 40 to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts objects weighting over 50 pounds. Work requires the occasional use of ladders. Work requires visual acuity to assure completion of tasks in acceptably clean and aseptic manner.
