About the Position: Works under the supervision of AMSC's Director or Deputy Director, who assigns work in terms of objectives, priorities, and desired results. Employee establishes priorities and is expected to carry out assignments independently, with minimal supervision. The incumbent works independently in resolving most conflicts. Completed work is reviewed by others whose programs and employees would be affected by the incumbent's recommendations.
Duties
Serves as the principal administrative support assistant for Army Management Staff College (AMSC).
Prepares, assists, and serves as an Action Officer in preparing replies to general correspondence and specific correspondence as directed.
Responsibility includes records management, correspondence, forms control, mail, travel arrangements, personnel liaison, and the coordination of AMSC’s essential internal administrative operations.
Performs duties for leadership staff comprised of senior military and civilian employees to relieve them of administrative duties and contribute to the effective operation of the college.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (GS-05) which includes experience compiling data, preparing reports and creating correspondence; maintaining and updating schedules and/or calendars and coordinating meetings for senior leaders; and experience utilizing various office automation tools.
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
