You will serve as a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY/OFFICE AUTOMATION) in the MANPOWER DIVISION of MARINE CORPS BASE QUANTICO.
Duties
You will perform a variety of general office and clerical tasks.
You will operate Real-time Automated Personnel Identifications System (RAPIDS) to update primary data within Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS).
You will answer the telephone, giving correct information and authoritative interpretation of rules concerning ID card eligibility, procedures for obtaining ID cards and DEERS enrollment.
You will set up and maintain files of correspondence, circulars, regulations bulletins, and order select file material for destruction or transfer to record depositories.
You will verify or reconstruct information regarding military personnel or their dependents; research, interpret, and implement current directives, regulations and policies.
Requirements

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
GS-06
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Utilizing standard administrative processes, office operations, and office automated software and equipment to perform procedural and clerical work in support of military personnel programs, operations, and functions; 2) Determining eligibility requirements by researching, interpreting, and applying current directives, regulations, and policies related to military personnel, programs, and reports; 3) Retrieving, researching, and analyzing information from military personnel database systems to resolve issues, research eligibility requirements, and respond to queries; 4) Filing, maintaining, and searching for information utilizing demonstrated knowledge of filing systems and related cross reference procedures; 5) Performing clerical document reviews to ensure information is correct and sufficient; and 6) Communicating orally and in writing to explain rules and regulations to customers.
GS-05
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-04) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Entering information in office automation databases, maintaining files, and answering and directing telephone inquiries; 2) Reviewing clerical documentation for accuracy; 3) Retrieving information from office automation databases and online systems to respond to queries; and 4) Preparing accurate official correspondence.
This position requires the ability to type at least 40 words per minute. Your response to the typing skill question on the Occupational Questionnaire will be used in your qualification determination.

Education
In lieu of general/specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:
GS-05:
Have successfully completed four years of education above high school level
OR
Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
