About the Position: This position works as a Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation) with the United States Army Recruiting Command (USAREC), Office of the Chief of Staff, Headquarters Company, Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Duties
Performs a variety of military human resources (HR) actions in support of the Headquarters Company.
Responsible for timely preparation of reports, correspondence, Headquarters Company suspense items, unit in-processing and out-processing, the Unit Transmittal Letter (UTL), and other related personnel matters.
Uses automated systems to update data and compile reports and correspondence.
Maintains unit files in accordance wth regulations.
Manages administrative personnel actions for several programs, such as Unit Awards, Temporary Duty Travel (TDY), etc.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to pass the Army Accident-Avoidance Course.
- Must have or obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Specialized Experience for the GS-5: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) using automated systems to update information and prepare standard reports; and 2) preparing a variety of correspondence utilizing word processing software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
