This position is located in the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Assistant Secretary for Public and Indian Housing.
Duties
As a Housing Innovations Specialist, you will:
Participate in activities seeking resolutions for some of the Nation's most complex and plaguing problems associated with low-income housing assistance.
Work as part of a team testing and evaluating innovations in the delivery of low-income housing assistance.
Lead or play an active role in the development of nationwide policies and procedures relating to the Moving to Work demonstration.
Prepare recommendations and develops policy alternatives and materials for new or proposed legislation affecting innovations in low income housing assistance programs.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
- Working with public housing, voucher and/or community development programs (i.e. Operating Subsidy, Capital Fund, Section 8 vouchers, Family Self Sufficiency, HOPE VI, Moving to Work, homeownership, community and supportive services (CSS), housing development and financing); AND
- Analyzing issues/problems, develop strategies, and present solutions to senior management and high level officials, orally and in writing; AND
- Communicating through written communication, documentation, and report writing.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-14 you must have been at the GS-13 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
