The primary purpose of this position is as an Air Reserve Technician (ART) Officer, to serve as Chief of the Force Generation Center (FGC) Plans and Exercises Division. In this role, the incumbent directs execution of the Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) exercise program. Oversees training to reservists in accomplishment of organizational tasks.
Duties
Balance workload and provide overall direction and vision to the subordinate unit chiefs on a wide range of operational and administrative issues.
Identify the need for change in organization priorities and take action to implement such changes.
Discharge security responsibilities by ensuring education and compliance with security directives for employees with access to classified or sensitive material.
Ensure appropriate exercise information is loaded into systems such as Joint Operational Planning and Execution System and Deliberate and Crisis Action and Planning and Execution Segments.
Manage the Deployment Review Board and Deployment for Training processes.

- Required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Incumbent's regular assignments are primarily ART duties: however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities
- Employee must obtain and retain a TOP SECRET clearance. This position is designated as Critical Sensitive

- This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
- This is a designated mobility position. Incumbent must be willing to move/transfer to another unit/location on a lateral or promotion as directed by HQ AFRC.
- This is a designated key position in accordance with HQ AFRC/DPCS Attachment 71 to the guideline FPM 930- 71
- Unless exempt, selectee must satisfactorily complete a one year supervisory/managerial probationary period
- A high degree of tact and diplomacy and demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities to successfully direct and manage the command exercise program is needed for position.
Qualifications
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Administrative and Management Positions.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in federal service (or equivalent in other pay systems) in which equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) to perform successfully the duties of the position. Specialized experience is experience which may have been gained while assisting providing oversight, direction, support, development, and/or planning of command-wide mission exercises and readiness, which includes providing guidance and personnel management regarding policies, procedures and guidelines to support staff.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
Knowledge of Air Force and AFRC operation concepts, logistics policies and procedures, and plans and exercises methods, policies and procedures applicable to the management of AFRC organizations and personnel.
Knowledge of aviation and non-aviation operations, AFRC/Other MAJ COM functions, missions and directives; structure of subordinate units and their missions; aircraft/equipment limitations and capabilities sufficient to determine feasibility of mission requirements.
Knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and procedures, and skill in evaluating program operations to develop comprehensive reports.
Ability to plan, organize, and direct functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization appropriately working through subordinate leads.
Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; negotiates complex issues, and maintains good order, discipline and working relations.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social).
