Duties
Serves as an agent of the commander of assigned organization on accounting, financial, and managerial issues that require examination by a financial professional.
Performs quick response audits, audit readiness and sustainment, consulting and advisory services, risk management, liaison with external audit organizations, audit compliance and follow-up.
Performs the most difficult work of the unit and distributes and monitors the workload of lower-graded auditors and provides advice and assistance to them.
Reports to the Supervisory IR Auditor but may receive guidance and directions from higher organizational level commander, principal deputy commander, or chief of staff.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This is a Auditor position. Must obtain and maintain Level 2 certification within required time.
- May be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. GS-11 Experience required: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Experience in examining output products to ensure the necessary feedback to make sound decisions; 2) Experience in independently gathering, organizing, and evaluating data in complex areas; AND 3) Experience with developing findings/reports that clearly identify operational problems and required corrective actions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).
GS-12 Experience required: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Experience in examining output products to ensure the necessary feedback to make sound decisions; 2) Experience in independently gathering, organizing, and evaluating data in complex areas; 3) Experience with developing findings/reports that clearly identify operational problems and required corrective actions; AND 4) Experience in writing audit reports and make recommendations for improved efficiency and effectiveness of operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09 or GS-11).
