About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation.
Duties
Cut, bend or form material using hand tools, powered tools, and computer numerically controlled machines (CNC).
Interpret and work from highly technical blueprints, assembly drawings, manufacturing templates and engineering dispositions.
Fabricate, modify, and assemble a variety of Army, Navy, Air Force and FMS rotary wing aircraft and aircraft sheet metal structural parts, components, and portions of assemblies and systems.
Provide technical supervision and technical training to lower grade employees.
Check work using precision measuring tools to tight tolerances.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed Tier 1 background investigation.
- This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- Employee must pass a pre-appointment physical examination and meet established requirements.
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain hardness and conductivity testing training.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element) - WG-10: Ability to perform common Sheet Metal Mechanic (Aircraft), duties/tasks such as cut, form, and assemble parts by bolting, screwing, and riveting. Manufacture, and install cylindrical, square, or rectangular objects with constructed fastenings. Use measuring instruments such as pocket rulers, flexible and semi-flexible rulers, dividers, and other hand measuring plans and patterns. Use basic hand and powered tools (i.e. hammers, chisels, hand snips, band saws, squaring shears, bar folders, and brakes). Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

Physical Efforts:Requires continuous physical exertion for prolonged periods of time while bending, shaping, or otherwise working more complex parts and fabricating larger and bulkier items. Standing, stooping, reaching, working in cramped and awkward positions. Weight lifted up to 35 pounds without assistance, and over 35 pounds with assistance from another worker or weight handling equipment.
Working Conditions: Works indoors within a designated shop area. Exposed to danger of cuts from sharp metal edges. Danger of injury from operating powered machinery. Works in extremely noisy surroundings. Exposed to grease, solvents, and dust.
