About the Position: The mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot is to overhaul, repair, modify, retrofit, test and modernize helicopters, engines and components for all services and foreign military customers. Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) is the Army's Center of Industrial and Technical Excellence for Rotary Wing Aviation Maintenance. We provide worldwide on-site maintenance services, aircraft crash analysis, lubricating oil analysis, and chemical, metallurgical and training support.

Duties

Perform in-process and final acceptance inspections of repair and fabrication work on rotary wing aircraft parts and structures, inclusive of structural and nonstructural airframes components, equipment and complete airframes. Check condition, measurements, and finishes. Requests laboratory testing when necessary to ascertain identity and/or condition of material. Review requests for Material Review Board (MRB), Quality Deficiency Report/Equipment Improvement Recommendations (QDR/EIR), customer complaints, and/or proposed revisions to travelers and other publications applicable to assigned inspection area. Establish mandatory and additional inspection points or deletes unnecessary inspections on travelers and reviews work requirements for completeness of quality criteria.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position is covered by the Civilian Drug Testing Program. Incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R, Condition of Employment for certain civilian positions identified as critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program.
  • This position requires a pre-appointment physical examination and meet established requirements.
  • This position requires a personnel security background check (Tier 1).
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) business or travel requirements of 10% of the time.

The ability to perform the full range of inspections. Experience in repairing and fabricating a variety of angles or curves with varying pitch or circumference on a range of metals, fiberglass, and Kevlar components on rotary wing aircrafts. Experience in using complex shop mathematics in order to plan and lay out the repair and/or modification needed - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Ability To InspectAbility to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprint reading)Ability to Use Hand Tools, Power Tools, etc., for Metal WorkDexterity (Assembly, Disassembly, Reassembly, etc.)Knowledge of Equipment, Structure, Materials, etc. (Includes Constructing, Repair, and Forging)Layout and Pattern Development (Includes Geometric Projection and Triangulation) PHYSICAL EFFORT. May require long periods of walking, bending, stooping, climbing tall work stands, and standing. Heavy lifting is required by this position; however, when required to lift objects weighing in excess of 35 pounds, incumbent will obtain assistance of others or use mechanical handling equipment. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in shop areas subject to shop and equipment noise. Subject to hazard of electrical shock, cuts and bruises, noise and possibility of falling from aircraft and work-stands. Requires adherence to proper safety procedures and use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Working conditions are considered in the evaluation of the position. Requires wearing of safety equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety harness. May require obtaining and maintaining a security clearance and valid passport, availability for TDY (on 24 hour notice) and on call duty.
