About the Position: This position is located at Evans Army Community Hospital, Logistics Division, located on Fort Carson, CO. You will work as a Material Handler Leader, responsible for leading other Material Handlers in performing warehouse, transportation and other duties associated with medical supplies and equipment. Ensures smooth flow of work and rapid processing of priority cases. Ensures full compliance with regulatory procedures, installation requirements and Hospital policies.
Duties
Organizes and assign work to meet establish priorities, schedules, resources and detailed work plans established by higher level Supervisors.
Leads and provide guidance to other lower graded warehouse workers on tasks, equipment usage, material storage and transportation.
Enforces compliance with Civilian Personnel Programs, Equal Employment Opportunity programs and Affirmative Action Programs.
Provides on-the-job training on all pertinent work methods and procedures.
Prepare inventory and production reports, screens and identifies shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies, and direct shipments to shipping or storage areas.
Determines sequences for loading materials and organizes incoming shipments for maximum space utilization and safety considerations and operates motor vehicles.
Applies knowledge of the physical distribution functions of a warehouse for material receiving, storage, issuing, and preservation of medical supplies; vaccines and storage temperatures; oxygen, alarms and equipment to monitor usage and purity.
Assigned as the Logistics Advisor in regards to all Class VIII medical material for distribution, management and storage.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to completion of 1-year initial probationary period.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must obtain and maintain a valid stateside Driver's License and a valid Forklift (FLO) License to operate warehouse equipment.
- Must be able to work with Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) and wear proper protective clothing while doing so.
- This position is an Inclement Weather Essential position meaning you will make every attempt to report for duty on time and/or remain on duty during severe weather conditions.
- Must take and pass with favorable results a pre-employment physical due to the heavy lifting, pushing requirement.
- This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. Position requires that the incumbent sign DA Form 5019-R (Continued below)
- Cont... (Condition of Employment for Certain Positions identified as Critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program) and must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and randomly thereafter.
- The incumbent is subject to the Personal Reliability Program, IAW AR 190-13, AR 190-51, as they will have unaccompanied access to controlled medical substances.
- Immunization- All employees assigned to a Medical Treatment Facility are required to be screen for applicable immunizations regardless of series, based on occupational risk, (see below)
- and are subject to missing/required immunizations IAW AR 40-562, Chapters 3,4.
- Employee must successfully complete all training required to work within the organization. Overtime and compensatory time may be required.
- May lift and carry material up to 70 pounds. Supply carts weigh up to 200-400 pounds when fully loaded, are non-motorized and require considerable effort to push to clinics.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Material Handler Leader (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) without more than normal supervision. Work completed for the Material Handler Leader position under normal supervision includes demonstrated experience encouraging and leading other employees to follow supervisor's instructions; demonstrating proper work methods; and answering workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and/or other directives - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
