About the Position: Serves as a Materials Handler (Forklift Operator/Motor Vehicle Operator) in the warehouse encompassing duties that involve all Warehouse Operations within the receiving/distribution Sections, Supply Chain Management Branch, and Logistics Division.
Duties
Receives incoming medical materiel, supplies and equipment.
Stores, safeguards and maintains material within assigned storage area.
Delivers supplies throughout the hospital to assigned wards and clinics, and delivers outbound shipments to Directorate of Logistics (DOL) for outlying and remote clinics.
Conducts warehouse inventories, performing physical counts individually or with a team.
Receives outgoing medical materiel and supplies.
Delivers supplies into designated areas to include Point of Use cabinets, and ensures correct stock levels are reset within the cabinets.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Position requires that the incumbent sign DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Positions identified as Critical under the Drug Abuse
- Testing Program) and must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- The incumbent is subject to the Personnel Reliability Program, IAW AR 190-13, AR 190-51, as they will have unaccompanied access to controlled medical substances.
- May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include rotating shifts, weekends, and/or holidays.
- The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle.
- An appropriate, valid driver’s license is required.
- Employee will be required to pass and maintain a forklift certification and driving test within 180 days of employment.
- Employee is subject to a medical clearance examination; include use of all limbs, joints, muscles, vision, and hearing.
- his position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Physical Effort: Heavy lifting (in excess of 45 pounds). Working on hard surfaces that requires standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Light to moderate reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls while driving, raising, lowering, and tilting forklift trucks.
Working Conditions: Works inside and outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, and falls from ladders, falling material, or injury from equipment. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents, and high noise areas while working in a mechanized work area, or radiation, toxins, explosives hazards, or chemical fumes while working in a hazardous materials area. May be required to wear protective clothing such as hard hats, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons. Drives motor vehicles in all types of traffic and weather conditions.
