About the Position: This position supports the Evans Army Community Hospital Logistics Directorate. You will work as a Material Handler (FLO/MVO) performing warehousing duties and functions associated with both medical and non-medical supplies and equipment. Incumbent will operate forklifts and motor vehicles.

Duties

Receive, store and issue medical supplies and material. Ensure proper establishment and maintenance of accountability procedures. Apply working knowledge of various types of fork lift trucks capable of lifting loads weighing less than 10,000 lbs. and as high as 168 inches and their operation techniques. Apply working knowledge of the height, width, length, and weight of the vehicles in order to judge overhead and side clearance, turning radius, braking distance, and the safest distance maintained from other vehicles. Operate large material moving equipment and vehicles inside the warehouse and fork lifts in confined places over wood, concrete, or similar type floors. Prepare production reports, check records, screen issue documents, and find missing data. Prepare inventory, screen and identify shipping and receiving documents for discrepancies, and direct shipments to shipping or storage areas.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • A Pre-employment Physical is required and may be subject to an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
  • Annual Influenza Vaccination requirement due to working in a medical facility.
  • The work of this position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Government Driver's License as well as have a stateside driver's license.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Forklift Certification and take a driving test within 180 days of employment.
  • May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include rotating shifts, weekend, and/or holidays.
  • This position is covered by the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. Position requires that the incumbent sign DA Form 5019-R.
  • (Condition of Employment for Certain Positions identified as Critical under the Drug Abuse Testing Program) and must pass urinalysis testing as required prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
  • Position may require incumbent undergo periodic random drug testing in accordance with Executive Order 12564, dated 14 September, 1986.

Working on hard surfaces that requires standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Light to moderate reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls while driving, raising, lowering, and tilting forklift trucks. Working Conditions: Works inside and outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty, or poorly lighted. Regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, and falls from ladders, falling material, or injury from equipment. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents, and high noise areas while working in a mechanized work area, or radiation, toxins, explosives hazards, or chemical fumes while working in a hazardous materials area. May be required to wear protective clothing such as hard hats, steel toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, and rubber aprons. Drives motor vehicles in all types of traffic and weather conditions.
