About the Position: Serves as a Health System Specialist at the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Small Market and Stand Alone Organization (SSO) Medical Treatment Facility (MTF), West Point, NY.
This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.
Duties
Coordinate the planning and development of studies with other organizational areas as well as between military treatment facilities to develop and implement efficient, cost-effective healthcare referral processes.
Perform general or focus prospective, concurrent and retrospective reviews of healthcare referral patterns and utilization models.
Complete data abstraction and provides analysis of data and information as part of the review.
Utilize Diagnosis Related Groups (DRG), Current Procedure Terminology (CPT), and International Classification Diseases-10 CD-9) codes and enters and retrieves data from databases as required.
Prepare reports containing proposals, findings, analysis, and evaluation of data and recommendations for changes in procedures, practices, or organization.
Prepare and develops databases and updates as necessary. Analyzes internally produced data on referral patterns to identify specific areas of command interest and action.
The employee manages the internal and external health care referral process for beneficiaries at Keller Army Community Hospital.
Serve as a Subject Matter Expert within KACH, Medical Command (MEDCOM), for Referral Coordination issues.
As the Referral Management Coordinator, supervises and oversees the work of Referral Clerks to include Clear and Legible Reporting clerk(s).

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes counseling and assisting beneficiaries and staff concerning medical and dental care; analyzing databases for program accuracy and compliance; and resolving claims issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position such as hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
