This position is located in Department of Homeland Security/U.S. Coast Guard, Special Missions Training Center in Camp Lejeune, NC.
Duties
The position provides secretarial and office management support for the Commanding Officer, who assists in directing administrative and support operations.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- This position requires a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI).
- Applicants must be able to type 40 words per minute
- Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
Qualifications
To Qualify for the GS-6 Grade Level: Applicants must have one year of general experience. General experience includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
Examples of general experience include: suggesting and drafting new or revised clerical administrative support processes and procedures; maintaining files and records; assisting in the management of ongoing clerical and administrative support; drafting correspondence and reports; identifying workflow problems; providing assistance and direction to administrative support staff and lower organizational level.
Substitution of Education for Experience: Applicants may meet the basic qualification requirements for this position by completing 2 years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
Equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience may be used to meet the total experience requirements.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social).
