This position serves as sole Transportation Coordinator for the Veterans Transportation Service (VTS) and contract transport of the Heartland East John Cochran Division VA Medical Center, St. Louis Missouri. Leads motor vehicle operators and transportation assistants who work in the Veteran's transportation office.
Duties

Duties include but may not be limited to:
Coordinates rural and urban patient transportation with the St. Louis Disabled Veterans organization, contracted patient transport, and VISN 15, Eastern Orbit medical centers.
Coordinates transportation not only from the outlying rural areas surrounding the St. Louis VA Medical Center and its off-site locations, but also from the John J. Pershing VAMC and the Marion VAMC rural counties and remote areas that are closer to the St. Louis VAMC facilities than they are to those Eastern Orbit locations.
Manages the Medical Center's VTS and contract patient transport for all St. Louis VA Medical Center locations.
Completes all administrative duties associated with the VTS Board of Directors, which consists of the Facility Director, Executive Sponsor, Veterans Transportation St. Louis VA Medical Center.
Responsible for arranging transportation for Veterans using the VTS para-lift vans.
Ensures the vehicle driver maintains skills in vehicle maintenance and operation, wheelchair maneuvering, load/off-load of passengers in wheelchairs, and oxygen tank transport.
Prepare appropriate documentation and/or scheduling for the Veteran traveler according to the appropriate guidelines and regulations.
Manages the transportation waiting area at the John Cochran Division, ensuring all waiting Veterans' transport is coordinated and complete. Coordinates with all travel-affiliated clerks on Veteran transportation requirements and needs; ensures even distribution of workload.
Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires at least one year of experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Qualifying specialized experience includes coordinating and overseeing transportation for passenger/patient travel; calculates route of vehicles for urban and rural transportation; and utilizing a variety of office equipment/software to generate reports and maintain records and files.
