Incumbent works with the VTS Supervisory Mobility Manager for workload forecasting, scheduling design, procedure development, and quality improvement implementation, modification of processes, evaluation and ongoing operational flow of the program. The three major areas of responsibility are: (1) Scheduling Transportation, Data Collection, & Tracking Support; (2) Consult Management responsibilities; (3) Program Support responsibilities.
Duties
Performs work involving consult management and transportation scheduling.
Tracks data and statistical information in support of Veteran Transportation Service (VTS).
Performs a basic analysis of the data and generates a variety of reports.
Incumbent will evaluate documents, e.g., sampling plans, permit applications and other data collection forms.
Aggregates in-coming data from a variety of sources.
Reviews documents, reports and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies and ensures data entry is complete and accurate.
Enters pertinent information into an automated tracking system.
Maintains automated system of program-specific data to track items such as service project milestones, progress reports, program trends, performance measures, compliance strategies, etc.
Interacts with various other transportation services.
Coordinates service practices that decrease waits and delays for patients in all specialty areas.
Plans consult processing flow to ensure veterans receive consultation services in a timely manner.
Utilizes the Veterans Health Information System & Technological Architecture (VISTA), Computerized Patient Record Systems (CPRS) or SharePoint Consult/Request Tracking System in processing internal consultations.
Daily phone calls to Veterans to confirm transportation for next day pickups.
Daily validates medical appointments program workload and ensures transportation coordination is accurate for next day.
Coordinates the day-to-day operation of VTS program flow, processes, and functions.
Plans and provides support services in the following types of program areas: electronic records management; driver scheduling setup & management
Assists with coordination of emergency, urgent and routine transportation.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Duty Station: This position is located at the John Cochran Division, but may be changed to any other VASTLHCS location based on the needs of the medical center.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shift (tour to be negotiated upon start)

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 01/03/2024.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.
Preferred Experience: Transportation Coordination/Dispatching experience
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Travel related duties that are all encompassing and require the incumbent to demonstrate excellent customer service skills, validates travel documentation/authorizations, helps prepare and transfer employee travel profiles, authorizations, and vouchers through the E-government Travel System (ETS) like Concur Government Edition (CGE), promotes/coordinates the issuance of US Bank Government Travel Cards, and establishes employee vendor files in the Financial Management System (FMS). OR,
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 6 months of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position. As a general rule, education is not creditable above GS-5 for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position. . OR,
Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education.

Physical Requirements: The work places no special demands on the employee other than some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light objects.
