The FBI's Information Technology Infrastructure Division (ITID) is seeking a highly qualified Information Technology Specialist (Linux Engineer) to install, secure, monitor, and support the Enterprise Linux infrastructure. Duties
Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (bare metal and/or virtual), networks, and applications. Build new baselines with the appropriate security and access controls to include DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIGS) and required security controls. Troubleshoot system issues, identify root causes, and implement solutions.
Monitor system performance and optimize configurations for efficiency. Implement best practices to enhance system performance. Automate system administration tasks using scripts and tools, such as Ansible, PERL, and shell scripting. Streamline processes to improve efficiency.
Installation, O&M, optimization, and support of JBOSS application server/middleware environments. Ensure multi-factor authentication mechanisms are in place to provide a single source of identification from the enterprise Windows infrastructure. Work with vendors and developers to implement fixes.
Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans for Linux infrastructure. Ensure data backup and restoration processes are in place. Apply security patches and updates to Linux systems using available tools such as Satellite Server.
Evaluate, implement, and improve security measures to protect against vulnerabilities. Work with security components to resolve any security findings or vulnerabilities and apply fixes or updates as well as solutions to achieve closure.
Train and support other IT personnel on Linux-related tasks. Collaborate with technical and client teams effectively. Ensure that technical documentation exists for all systems and is kept up to date. Inventory will include OS version and patch levels, hostnames, property numbers, IP addresses, enclave, number of cores, number of processors, admin passwords, certificates, and service accounts, system owner and application(s) being run.
Qualifications
GS-13: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. SE is defined as follows:
Experience in IT systems development, life cycles (i.e., systems documentation design development, and configuration management), automated and manual information processing systems, data sources, data flow, and interaction of existing IT systems with regard to IT project work.
Experience in oral and written communication skills to interact with others, prepare reports, and make presentations. Ability to provide guidance and to obtain support required to carry out IT projects, goals, and initiatives.
Experience engineering, modifying, creating custom dashboards utilizing Linux solutions (i.e. Grafana, Zabbix) to monitor system health and configuration.
Experience engineering, hardening, and deploying Linux baselines, provisioning new hardware, and providing unique, customized scripting solutions to deploy Linux baseline images and software.
Experience in automating processes through Ansible Automation Platform templates and workflows. Develop and modify Ansible automation playbooks and roles utilizing YAML coding. Deploy and monitor Ansible automation workflows.
