About the Position: XVIII ABN CORPS SENIOR CDR AUG Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Fort Bragg is a culturally diverse area with rural and city populations, co-located at Fayetteville, NC centrally located in the beautiful state of North Carolina, which enjoys a temperate year-round climate and world-renowned colleges and universities. Fayetteville is centrally located between the beautiful beaches of North Carolina and the scenic Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains.

Duties

Ensures all request for assistance received from Soldiers, Family members, Department of the Army Civilians (DACs), NAF employees, and civilians are completed IAW AR 20-1. Provides assistance services and receives complaints from Soldiers, dependents, retirees, civilian employees and the general public. Conducts investigations and/or inquiries (when directed by the Commanding General) and provides assistance alone or participates as an investigative/inquiry/assistance team member with other IGs. Evaluates complaints, seeks advice and assistance where necessary for resolution, and provides appropriate response to management.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Travels to various locations within the United States to accomplish described duties.
  • Travel requirements are about 50%.
  • Must attend and successfully complete the IG Course conducted by DAIG, IAW Army Regulation 20-1, paragraph 2-3h, must be approved for Inspector General duties and attend.
  • Employee must attend the IG advanced course every five years as part of CP 55 and as part of functional training for all 1801-series personnel.
  • Removal from IG duty and loss of access to IGARs and IGNET, may occur due to serious criminal activity, to include drug use.
  • Secret Clearance
  • Civilian IGs who fail to attend the IG advanced course may be subject to decertification by TIG.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1)Work that involves conducting interview and investigative inquires; 2) experience with multiple Service and DoD programs and regulations, policies and procedures to identify standards violations of federal or military laws or regulations; 3) experience receiving and analyzing incoming complaints to determine proper course of action; 4) written and oral communication to conduct inspections/inquiries/investigations, and preparing correspondences for approval, and writing inspection and investigative reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree if unrelated in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Information AnalysisOral CommunicationWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
