The Supervisory Financial Administration Specialist manages the Finance Team, handling budget and financial management processes, transactions, and reporting that supports over 30 programs and offices and their missions at DOJ.

The duties and responsibilities for a Supervisory Financial Administration Specialist, but are not limited to, the following:
Evaluate, plan, and direct the analytical and evaluative work for critical functions related to the management of budget and finance plans and programs.
Perform the administrative and human resource management functions relative to the staff supervised.
Oversee the coordination and preparation of obligation and expenditure schedules, special studies, and reports.
Develop strategies for implementing financial policies, procedures, and management controls for organizational components or to full multi-year objectives.
Provide financial advice to management and staff on all stages of financial management information program planning and effective decision making.
Prepare written reports and presents briefings and presentations.
Requirements
- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
- You must successfully pass a security/background investigation and a drug screening.
- You must be a current permanent Department of Justice employee with competitive status or a CTAP/RPL eligible candidate.
- You must meet all applicable time-in-grade requirements by the closing of this announcement.
- Additional selections may be made from this announcement, at any time, if openings occur in other offices serviced by Justice Management Division, HR Operations.
- You may be required to complete a one-year supervisory probationary period.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Supervisory Financial Administration Specialist, (GS-0501-14), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade.
If you are a current Department of Justice employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade.

Specialized Experience: For the GS-14, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service, which includes: Developing budgetary or financial policies; Assessing the efficiency or effectiveness of financial program operations; AND Maintaining financial management systems.
