This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the Department of Defense (DOD) Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located within the U.S. Army Installation Management Command, Directorate of Public Works, Operations & Maintenance Division, at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Duties

Serve as Quality Assurance Evaluator and Technical Specialist in mechanical systems such as, but not limited to, ventilation, air conditioning, and heating. Perform complete projects involving planning, coordinating and accomplishing activities concerning the operation, maintenance, repair and improvement of a variety of mechanical systems. Review plans, specifications, and standards prior to contract advertisement to determine feasibility from construction standpoint. Attend pre-bid and pre-construction conferences to discuss principal construction features and requirements in terms of methods and equipment. Develop surveillance techniques and procedures to use in inspecting and evaluating the operation of assigned functions. Determine valid workload changes and recurring requirements brought about by changes in procedures and operations.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license for light motor vehicles.
  • Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.

Qualifications

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Working with projects involving the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC); 2) Reviewing reports, documenting deficiencies, and providing input for proper remedial action; and 3) Reading and interpreting contract documents to determine contract requirements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
