You will serve as an INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN/INFOSEC) in the Information Technology and Cyber Security Department (Code 109) of PSNS and IMF.

Duties

You will manage, coordinate and develop Windows operating systems and cybersecurity practices and standards and/or modify functionality to meet changing requirements on the local domain. You will diagnose and resolve problems in response to CMDNet incidents regarding a myriad of IT issues. You will ensure the application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of service administration is in accordance with NAVSEA, Navy and DoD guidance. You will install, configure and maintain the standard CMDNet workstation and server operating systems. You will respond to requests for information system related difficulties, analyzing and evaluating problems and providing immediate solutions. You will scan, patch and/or install updates and/or temporary fixes to existing operating systems per CMDNet cybersecurity policies and procedures. You will examine and evaluate alternative means of satisfying requirements at the concept and technical level. You will execute and implement technically feasible approaches regarding the most effective and efficient automation approaches to improve continuity of service.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: configuring operating systems and developing cybersecurity policies or procedures to ensure information technology security requirements and system specifications are implemented efficiently and effectively. In addition, your experience must reflect skill in the following areas: 1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include configuring firewalls in conjunction with other security devices (e.g., intrusion detection systems, security equipment, or similar devices) to establish a secure network system. 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include guiding management to determine he most appropriate methods for delivering information via the network infrastructure. 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations: listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include informing others of a particular technical method or procedure and persuading them to accept and follow recommendations. 4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. IT-related experience demonstrating this competency include diagnosing and resolving complex network systems issues.
