About the Position: Fort Bragg is a culturally diverse area with both rural and city populations, adjacent to Fayetteville and centrally located in the beautiful state of NC which enjoys a temperature year-round climate and world-renowned colleges and universities.

Duties

Serve as Lead Construction Control Representative and Contracting Officer's representative with responsibility for technical administration. Interpret contract plans and specifications, determines whether construction meets contract requirements, recommends changes in matters relative to adequacy of materials, equipment and workmanship. Assure that inspection is adequate and continuous throughout construction process. Provide assistance to lower graded employees regarding specific contract matters dealing with sophisticated materials, work segments, issues, etc. Determine number of periodic payments due the contractor by figuring percentage of items and materials delivered and/or installed. Review contractor’s construction schedules, shop drawings and other material submittals and recommends approval/disapproval actions.

Requirements

  • Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
  • This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a two year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-09. OR Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Engineering, Building Construction, Business. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semesters hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Facilities InspectionProject Planning, Design, and ConstructionQuality Assurance Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
