This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base & Major Range and Test Facilities base to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This is a TERM position NOT TO EXCEED 1 YEAR 1 DAY can be extended up to 6 years.

Duties

Serve as technical advisor to supported units and all levels of maintenance officers on matters related to maintainability of mission equipment. Conduct informal training of military personnel on maintenance procedures. Devise test procedures for systems lacking complete technical data. Recommend system modifications in coordination with engineering personnel. Initiate corrective action to resolve equipment failure problems.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a CENTCOM MOD-17 compliant deployment physical exam. Must be able to successfully complete an overseas deployment dental examination.
  • The incumbent may be required to obtain vaccinations as deemed necessary for a specific theater.
  • Term employment is subject to a one-year trial period. Employees serving a trial period can be removed with limited appeal rights.
  • This position has been designated as Emergency Essential. It is an overseas position; position ensures success of combat operations or supports essential combat systems after a mobilization, evacuation order, or other military crisis.
  • Successfully complete and pass pre-employment and annual physicals.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 60% of the time.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete specific formal individual development training program.
  • The incumbent may be required to obtain vaccinations as deemed necessary for a specific theater.

Qualifications

Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1). Troubleshooting to isolate and repair problems in electronic equipment such as primary/auxiliary power systems, power and data cabling, and environmental controls; 2). Providing instructions to users on the operation of system hardware and/or software; AND 3).Reporting status of maintenance actions and logistics support activities to management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
