About the Position: You will serve as a Support Branch Supervisor as a Range Safety Officer, Senior Safety Officer, Subject Matter Expert (SME) and senior evaluator for HIMAD, FAAD, FMS SHORAD air defense and NASAMS missile systems.
Duties
Explain work requirements, methods and procedures as needed, giving special instructions on difficult operations and answering technical questions about work.
Serve as subject matter expert, Range Safety Officer and Senior Evaluator for HAWK, PATRIOT, Chu-SAM FMS SHORAD, Forward Area Air Defense (FAAD) and NASAMS systems.
Manage division technical operations which include: firing range, maneuver area and frequency scheduling, planning and coordination of scenarios, target usage, missile and ammunition storage and missile assembly.
Represent Unit Training and Certification Division, Combined Arms Support Battalion and Fort Bliss at Program Management Reviews and other planning and coordination meetings.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The incumbent may be required to work irregular duty hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- One year supervisory probationary period may be required.
- Job requires travel on temporary duty within and outside the United States. Incumbent must be able to obtain/maintain a passport.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience overseeing operations and procedures for air defense missile systems; planning and conducting large scale multi-system live firing and training exercises; applying technical and tactical procedures to maintain safety standards; and providing technical advice on the use of air defense missile systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
