You will serve as a PRODUCTION SHOP PLANNER (WOODCRAFTER) in the Service Shop, Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will coordinate the required system tag outs with the work control and release function.
You will assist others in eliminating backlogs by resequencing work as requested by project managment to minimize the effect of manpower imbalances and material shortages.
You will utilize the project task packaging strategy and grouping areas of work for efficient application of trade skills and materials.
You will sort the information available in the database to develop tasks packages for executive of work.
You will create the packages, and exercise judgement in identifying efficiencies and recommend ways to package work that results in cost and schedule gains for the project.
You will perform a review of current schedule and determine proper scope and timeline of work for an individual task package based on the probability of work beginning as scheduled.
You will determine what quality assurance and support documentation is necessary to complete the job and prepare/assemble them with the package.

- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
Qualifications

Techniques to plan, construct, and repair standardized shipping and storage containers
Material Management automated system and be able to retrieve various reports on material status to assist in correcting material problems
Ensuring all unused or excess material is immediately dispositioned as appropriate to minimize cost to the project upon completion of work
And
Needs to have completed the following nuclear training courses to handle nuclear material: Quality Control and Material Control.
