About the Position: This position is located at Fort Bliss Texas.
Duties
Supervises mission-essential functions in connection with operation of the Training Support Center Aviation Flight Simulator Compound.
Trains military pilots and instructor pilots in the operation of rotary wing aircraft through research and job analysis.
Oversee instructor development in the subject matter of professional aviation procedures and techniques.
Instructs and/or oversees the instruction of military pilots and instructor pilots in the operation of single or multi-engine rotary wing aircraft.
Serves as a subject matter expert for the aircraft and simulator.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance
- Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime.
- The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles
- This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain an Instrument Ground Instructor Certificate OR Instrument Flight Instructor Rating Certificate within 12 months of employment
- This position requires incumbent to validates professional qualifications annually through an intense instrument flight evaluation, standardization flight evaluation, written and oral evaluation conducted by an army standardization instructor pilot
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that Includes training and/or evaluating pilots and/or instructors/examiners in advanced techniques for rotary wing aircraft; providing guidance on precision handling and maneuvering of the aircraft for an organization; conducting oral examination to determine if individual has a working knowledge and understanding concerning specified aircraft and develops training test and instructional material through evaluation of requirements: This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
