OIG is organized into seven operational units: the Immediate Office of the Inspector General, Office of the Counselor, Office of Audits and Evaluations, Office of Healthcare Inspections, Office of Investigations, Office of Management and Administration, and Office of Special Reviews. In addition to the Washington, DC, headquarters, OIG has offices located in more than 60 locations throughout the country.
Duties
As a Visual Information Specialist, you will:
- Serve as primary specialist for original electronic and printed matter projects including all VA OIG publications, presentations, and graphic renderings.
- Complete high-level, complex, and high visibility projects that frequently often cut across organizational lines, requiring frequent consultation with top VA OIG staff to understand their needs and advise on effective design concepts.
- Maintain effectiveness and consistency in design and production, review visual materials produced by other elements of the VA OIG, administer the procurement of all types of visual art services, and makes program recommendations to the Communications Chief that relate to the visual programs of the VA OIG.
- Use the available desktop publishing technology and equipment in the development, design, and production of unique high-profile multimedia products for VAOIG, including illustrations, videos, motion graphics, digital and printed publications, posters, or other visual presentations, to include recruitment- and promotional-related content.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience for the GS-13 is one year (52 weeks) of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service, or equivalent, which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience for this position includes:
Managing all aspects of producing visual information for print and online uses, including the design, creation, and preparation of graphic art, videos, charts, page layouts, designs, and related content; AND
Planning and coordinating the preparation and use of photographs, videos, illustrations, drawings and various kinds of visual material for use in communicating information through visual means; AND
Applying script, graphic design and print electronic publishing processes using current versions of Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.) and Microsoft Suite (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel) applications; AND
Meets with senior leadership to present project plans and recommends technical advantages and disadvantages of formats, styles, media, and methods of reproduction.
In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13, you must have been at the GS-12level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a nontemporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
