You will serve as a SUPERVISORY QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST (PROGRAM MANAGER) in the Quality Assurance Branch (Code 723), Inspection, Test, and Quality Assurance Division (Code 720), Deputy Lifting and Handling Department (Code 701), Lifting and Handling Department (Code 700) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Duties

You will maintain a trained and qualified workforce to perform quality assurance functions relative to trade, skill, requirement, and content or workload. You will assign, ensure timely completion and quality of work, resolving conflicts and overlapping functions between subordinates and other groups. You will establish and maintain the schedule for internal and external audits for all weight handling equipment. You will manage the accomplishment of quality assurance functions for the Shipyard's weight handling equipment. You will direct all work assignments adhering to time, cost, safety and quality standards.

• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience utilizing quality assurance concepts, principles, and methodologies to conduct effective audits/investigations. Experience auditing, investigating and utilizing analysis methods and techniques. Experience working with shipyard weight handling equipment and its components and characteristics and how it applies to the overhaul maintenance and repair of naval vessels. Experience leading a team. Experience communicating effectively both verbally and in writing. Experience planning work, managing priorities, and utilizing resources effectively and in a cost-efficient manner. Experience adapting to frequent changes and re-structuring priorities.
