This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The NH-3 broadband level encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13. You will serve as a Lead Personnel Security Specialist in the Security Department, Security Operations & Plans Division (Code S53) of the Strategic Weapons Facility, Atlantic (SWFLANT), Kings Bay, GA.

Duties

You will lead and perform work to formulate/apply Nuclear Weapon security (NWS) policy, procedures, systems, and programs involving protection of strategic assets. You will perform NWS vulnerability and threat assessments, coordinates work schedules to support security operations, generates administrative correspondence, directives, presentations and information briefs. You will assist in the development or implementation of NWS Nuclear policies, procedures, or regulations. You will develop, analyze, plan, coordinate and evaluate procedures, standards, training and methods for protection of strategic assets located on federal property. You will monitor security force operations and performance and conduct internal security audits, reviews and analysis. You will represent the organization in inter- or intra-agency meetings concerning NWS programs and policies. You will lead other professional positions to ensure the staff functions in a manner that optimizes efficiency, economy, productivity, and organizational effectiveness.

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-2 broadband level (GS-11 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying a wide range of personnel security principles to determine the suitability and security eligibility of individuals for entry and retention in sensitive and non-sensitive positions.
