This position is part of the Department of Defense Civilian Acquisition Workforce Personnel Demonstration Project. The NH-3 broadband level encompasses positions equivalent to GS-12 and GS-13.
You will serve as a Lead Personnel Security Specialist in the Security Department, Security Operations & Plans Division (Code S53) of the Strategic Weapons Facility, Atlantic (SWFLANT), Kings Bay, GA.
Duties
You will lead and perform work to formulate/apply personnel security policy, procedures, systems, and programs involving the loyalty and reliability of people.
You will determine the suitability and security eligibility of individuals for entry and retention in sensitive and non-sensitive positions.
You will complete security clearance determinations for access to sensitive information, resources, material, or worksites.
You will assist in the development or implementation of policies, procedures, or regulations regarding the type of personal security checks required (i.e., national agency check, special background investigation, etc.).
You will evaluate the sensitivity determination for each position, as described by management based on need-to-know principles.
You will determine national security or agency information access requirements.
You will negotiate with organization officials to keep at a minimum the number of positions for which access to national security information is required.
You will develop and implement procedures and criteria for determining the sensitivity of positions and determine whether special investigative requirements apply.
You will represent the organization in inter- or intra-agency meetings concerning personnel security matters.
You will lead other professional positions to ensure the staff functions in a manner that optimizes efficiency, economy, productivity, and organizational effectiveness.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to qualify for inclusion into the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP).
- This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the NH-2 broadband level (GS-11 equivalency) in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying a wide range of personnel security principles to determine the suitability and security eligibility of individuals for entry and retention in sensitive and non-sensitive positions.
