Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Vandenberg Space Force Base is searching for a Military Personnel Liaison for the 533 TRS (NH-0301-02, GS 05/11 equivalent). Description: We are the home of initial skills training for the United States Space Force! We take enlisted Guardians straight out of Basic Military Training and provide their initial skills across the three disciplines of space operations, intelligence and cyberspace operations. In this position YOU serve as the human resources specialist, analyzing and developing recommendations to resolve substantive personnel problems and issues involving administrative programs. You serve as the units liaisons with HQ Space Force, Air Force, and local installations support agencies. For the entire time trainees are in the schoolhouse, you make sure their records are up to date. From in processing of new arrivals to the generation of orders to move them to their first operational units, you ensure the paperwork is correct and on time. Most trainees are new to the military, and you the vital link in setting them up for future success. You will have an impact on the next generation of military space professionals and how prepared they are to dominate in the space domain. Ideal Candidate: Background/experience: Previous military personalist (or civil service equivalent) experience highly desired. Experience: MILPDS (Highly Desired) Key Skills and Abilities: 1. Have basic knowledge and skills to apply standardized body of personnel rules, regulations, procedures, and precedents to mission requirements. 2. Knowledge of coding for personnel records using the automated personnel system. 3. Skills receiving personnel action requests and reconciling with guidance and developing supporting courses of action. 4. Skill entering and retrieving personnel action data and correcting data errors in data systems. 5. Knowledge of extensive rules, procedures, and operations as applied to the Headquarters Task Management Tool (TMT). 6. Knowledge of secretarial and clerical assignments to perform the procedural and administrative work of the office, such as preparing and editing documents, maintaining files/records, making and preparing travel arrangements, composing various reports, inquiries, and technical correspondence. 7. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. 8. Knowledge of customer support principles sufficient to receive, respond to, and ensure complete resolution of problems the ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of an organization. 9. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships. 10. Ability to input, store, retrieve data and perform quality review of data elements in data systems.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • This position is not eligible for regular / reoccurring telework.
  • Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
  • Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • May be required to travel by military or commercial aircraft in the performance of TDY assignments.
  • May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
  • PCS and Incentives are not authorized.
