Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Vandenberg Space Force Base (CA) is searching for a Director of Staff for SLD 30 (NH-0301-04, GS14 / 15 equivalent).
Description:
SLD 30 commands the Western Spaceport and Test Range performing Department of Defense (DoD), civil, national security, and commercial space launch along with missile and aeronautical tests. SLD 30 provides host installation services to DoD, other government agencies, international allies, and commercial customers. SLD 30 is modernizing its capacity, agility, responsiveness, and resilience in all mission areas to deliver a Spaceport of the Future. We need a collaborative, proactive, and engaging leader to help make all of this happen. We need fresh perspectives to get after new and innovative solutions to our toughest obstacles. The SLD 30 Director of Staff Office is responsible for the oversight of 24 diverse agencies and managing over 300 personnel to enable spaceport and test range operations, installation support to mission partners, and improved quality of life for mission readiness. The position will exercise authorities for information and resource management of all SLD 30 staff agency offices to include:
- Plans, organizes, and oversees SLD 30 activities, organizational objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Establishes metric and analysis systems for units managed to assess efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with regulatory procedures.
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of SLD 30 through strategic planning and identifying key processes and procedures that need to be modified or improved.
- Provides long-term plans, functional/technical advice and continuity of management across SLD Staff Agency functions that impact spaceport operations.

- Bachelor's degree in any field is desired
- Defense personnel and/or manpower experience
- AcqDemo personnel related experience
Key Skills and Abilities
1. Knowledge of large, complex organizations that provide communications support (computer network, email, telephone, etc.); security; contracting; meals; lodging; recreation; building, utilities, road, and grounds maintenance and repair, as well as other functional support to large installations with many buildings, facilities, roads, and acreage.
2. Knowledge of environmental, safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
4. Ability to analyze, plan, coordinate, and adjust work operations of multiple organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
5. Ability to prepare reports and briefings for high-level officials both civilians and military, then professionally interact with and deliver briefings to these officials.
6. Ability to plan, organize, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in order to present, advocate and/or advise on processes, actions, and decisions impacting the SLD 30 mission.
Requirements

- This position is eligible for telework 2-4 days a pay period.
- PCS/Relocation funding is not available.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
- May be required travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
