This position is located in Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, Office of the Judge Advocate General (CG-094). Office of Legal Policy & Program Development (CG-LPD), Washington DC.

Duties

This position manages the day-to-day operation of the Victim Witness Assistance Program (VWAP), cases, guidance, and training. The incumbent facilitates the development and maintenance of the policy, processes, and guidance necessary to enable and integrate the planning, management, assessment and reporting efforts of USCG operational programs and mission managers.

Qualifications

To qualify for GS-14 candidates must also have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-13. Specialized experience is demonstrated experience, which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. Experience must be in the normal line of progression or must be related to the work of the position advertised and must be reflected in resume. Specialized experience must include: Conducting legal research using automated files and data bases; AND Preparing statistical analysis and legal reports; AND Providing leadership to a program or project; AND Informing victims and witnesses of their rights and court decisions; AND Ensuring compliance with Victim Witness Assistance Program mandates. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
