You will serve as a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the FRC Mid Atlantic-VA of FLTREADCEN DET MID ATLANTIC PAX RIVER.

Duties

You will examine safety and occupational health management regulations to recommend changes and maintain worksite safety in an industrial environment. You will advise staff on occupational safety and health requirements, so the correct services, equipment, materials, and general operating supplies are procured. You will Required analyze accident and injury reports to discover trends and mishap cause

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: Analyzing safety design features and specifications in order to develop new methods and procedures to identify hazardous processes and equipment usage Ensuring work environments meet local guidelines and standards prior to work beginning to ensure safety measures are upheld Directing investigations of accidents and analyzing accident cause data to develop specific methods for prevention Consulting with specialist from related occupations concerning work process modifications and recommending corrective safety measures Assisting employees, supervisors, managers, and others l to identify and reduce/eliminate hazardous conditions affecting the safety and health of personnel, such as fumes, gases, vapors, lighting, ventilation, noise, chemicals, and lasers Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

GS-11:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree

or

3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree

or

LL.M., if related
