Duties

As a/an Communications Specialist (Housing Finance), you will: Be responsible for performing a wide range of communications and public relations functions. This includes writing and editing communications and marketing materials, such as issue briefs, newsletters, articles, talking points, brochures, and PowerPoint presentations. Manage Ginnie Mae's presence at conferences and industry events including developing conference strategies for promoting Ginnie Mae programs, policies, and new initiatives. Manage conference attendance and event planning, including identifying appropriate conferences for participation, pitching panel participation for senior executives, assisting in booth design, securing exhibit spaces, and managing conference related logistics (identifying hotels at government per diem, securing hotel rooms, and arranging meeting rooms and staffing for the Ginnie Mae conference hospitality center and exhibit booth). Review and analyze written material for objectivity, style, presentation, coherence, sentence structure, and readability. Ensure that written materials are accurate (fact checking), logically consistent, well organized, well researched, and appropriate for the intended audience. Ensure that conclusions drawn are valid and supportable.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement. To be qualified for this position at the GS-13 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level. Specialized experience for this position is defined as: - Planning and implementing external and internal corporate communication efforts, to inform and educate specific constituencies and the general public about an organization's core mission and programs; AND - Contributing to preparation for interviews with the national media, including pitching stories and execution of the engagement; AND - Using media content to communicate the mission and initiatives of an organization to important stakeholders and other external audiences. Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-13 you must have been at the GS-12 level for 52 weeks. Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
