About the Position: The incumbent will serve as a General Supply Specialist for the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, 404th Army Field Support Brigade, Logistics Readiness Center, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. This position will be filled as a term appointment NTE 13 months.

Duties

Serve as installation Property Book Officer utilizing an automated supply system such as Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-A) Property Book System. Review lateral transfers of installation property between hand receipt holders. Manage receipt of incoming equipment, storage, issue and maintenance of stock and maintenance of accountable records. Ensure protection of items against loss and integrity of accounts and accountable records. Identify property management problems and directs appropriate corrective action. Serve as a member of the Logistics Readiness Center Command Supply Discipline Program evaluation team. Oversee the execution of the Command Supply Discipline Program, which includes inspection of supply elements of supported activities. Investigate and determine compliance with property management inventory and program requirements. Identify and provide for immediate and long-range training and developmental needs of subordinates. Plan and assign work to subordinates and evaluate work performance. Establish deadlines and priority based on the workflow, difficulty of the work, and capabilities of employees.

  • The duties of this position may require the incumbent to work evenings, nights, holidays, and/or weekends to include modification in shifts and/or tour of duty.
  • The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.
  • This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 20% of the time.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) ensuring accountability in the storage, issuance, and receipt of supplies and equipment; 2) recommending changes in operational policies or procedures to improve supply services, and 3) resolving problems in the oversight of supply procurement activities. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). -OR- Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Acquisition, Accounting, Logistics, Business Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) -OR- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Attention to DetailInventory ManagementManaging Human ResourcesProblem SolvingSupply Planning Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
