You will serve as a Production Controller (Electronics) in the Planning and Engineering Department of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR. This announcement is for an Upward Mobility Program position.

Duties

You will be responsible for the preparation of detailed Formal Work Packages (FWP) and Controlled Work Packages (CWP). You will provide Production Control (Electronics Planning) services to support the repair, overhaul, modification, alteration, and manufacture of various products. You will be responsible for planning for the accomplishment of preventive and corrective maintenance work and/ or alterations on complex systems, sub-systems, and components. You will develop man-hour estimates required for work accomplishment using Labor Standards and Uniform Method and Standard tools. You will conduct research of technical information prior to the preparation of work packages using available resources to develop accurate Job Material Lists providing accurate material cost estimates and aid in procurement of in-use materials.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

The Upward Mobility Program is a unique job opportunity. This program is designed to provide Department of Navy employees career growth opportunities who have potential but do not presently meet the Office of Personnel Management qualification requirements for this position. The entry level for this position is GS-09 with a full performance level of GS-12. Knowledge of employees selected may vary and will require the development of an individually tailored training plan to assist them in qualifying for the full performance level of this position. Eligibility requires that the employee be performing satisfactorily, complete all training requirements, acquire the requisite qualifications and have met time-in-grade eligibility for career ladder promotions. This recruitment is open to current UIC 68438 employees who possess the basic knowledge, skills, and ability at or equivalent to GS-09 or WG-10 (series 2604, 2610, 2805, 3359, 4352 or 4701) grade level or pay band (or higher) in the Federal service or equivalent in the private or public sector observing and evaluating production operations in order to prevent or alleviate production delay. Employee Participation Requirements: - Must be a current permanent employee serving under a competitive appointment, or under a time-limited or excepted appointment that provides for noncompetitive conversion to a permanent appointment (e.g., VRA, Schedule A). - Employees must be WG-10 or GS-09 (or higher) to be eligible for this opportunity. - Have a current annual performance rating of fully successful or equivalent rating.
