You will serve as a Technician in the Non-Destruction Evaluation Branch (R35) of the Test and Evaluation Division (R3) of NAVSURFWARCEN IH DIV.
This position is part of the Warfare Centers Personnel Demonstration Project.
The NT-03 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-09 and GS-10.
The NT-04 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-11 and GS-12.
Duties
You will perform radiographic or other non-destructive work in support of production, qualification, lot acceptance, surveillance testing, experimentation, and malfunction investigations.
You will work with machines producing non-ionizing radiation (X-rays).
You will utilize Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Personnel (IRRSP) Certification from the American Society of Non-destructive Testing to operate X-ray machines.
You will prepare cost estimates, Radiographic Acceptance Criteria, and Radiographic Techniques.
You will utilize Level II certification in accordance with NAS-410 to accept product (sign acceptance reports, a permanent record of the acceptability of an evaluated product).

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current Industrial Radiography Radiation Safety Personnel (IRRSP) Certification.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals).
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
For the NT-04: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-03 (GS-09/10 equivalent) or grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing engineering technical guidance and support on work involving non-destructive testing, calibrating, testing, repairing, replacing, or modifying equipment.
For the NT-03: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-02 (GS-05/08 equivalent) or grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing engineering technical support on work involving calibrating, testing, repairing, replacing, or modifying equipment.

Successful completion of two full years of graduate level education that is directly related to the position being filled.
