Duties

Provides vision and communicates mission and organization goals to all subordinates. Directs, develops, and administers plans and procedures, and implements regulations to provide for a comprehensive Soldier and family support program widely recognized for addressing a broad range of interests and needs of the military community. Reviews all activities and programs to ensure they are operating in the most efficient manner and they are providing the best possible services. Serves on a variety of ACS activity councils to stay informed on operations and/or to coordinate programs and requirements.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Background/records checks, IAW DoDI 1402.05, IMCOM G9 Memorandum, dated 26 June 2015 directing a CNACI, are required for this position.
  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours.

Basic Requirement for Army Community Service Manager (101): Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes developing working relationships with a broad range of organizations; performing broad management functions associated with family programs and services; establishing program goals to support operations in accordance with governing laws and regulations; and coordinating community resources for provision of services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
